A. Billi Free & The Lasso
"Between Us Is Light"
A love story between the terrestial and extra-terrestrial.
Florals, ephemerals, and a new blend of live action imbedded into animation.
A video collage assembled with archival found footage,"Apostasy" contemplates origins, questions new and old tribal functioning, and envisions an individual self who chooses to find their own path, their own power and an individual quest for truth.
Alassane is a musician based out of Phoenix, Arizona.
Horse and Chariot
"Spread the luv"
A cut out collage animation for Horse and Chariot featuring a clock obsessed demon who emerges from a tranquil mermaid lagoon followed by a mysterious masked cat and shells who show the way to sublimation. Horse and Chariot is a solo recording project based out of San Francisco
This is 40 minutes of Sunn Trio's trailblazing self-titled free jazz album from 2016. It's paired with manipulated archival footage, layered and pieced together in a collage-like manner. The imagery and storytelling are directly derived from Sunn Trio's fascination with occult symbolism and Egyptian mythology.
Pathways of the Heart
Pathways is an eight-minute meditation on healing and connection created using traditional stop-motion animation techniques and a Reiniger-style multiplane camera. The tender and spellbinding soundtrack was graciously created by a dear friend and talented musician, Ryan Chavira.
"Scarcity Is Manufactured"
Wagging the tail end of a transformation destined to happen, SatCat (Deerhoof's Satomi as a puss moth caterpillar) undulates their way through archaic landscapes brimming on the edge of playful annihilation.
"The Sunn & Roy Flinn"
A boy is led away to seek the comforts he cannot find in his home. He escapes on an owl, a book, a moth, but finds he cannot escape himself.
Jerusafunk is a group based out of Phoenix, Arizona.
"Such a Feeling"
The animation for “Such a Feeling” features cut out collage, video composites, and some paper puppetry. Doors open and close, circling tunnels revolve endlessly through an eye, and after a journey through many dreamlike dimensions, the main character rises from its earthly strangeness and is crowned with a crystalline truth. Strange Lot is a trio located in Austin, Texas.
"And now “Dog Park” has found new life yet again in this masterful stop-motion video by Arizona artist Gabriella Molina, who turns chopped-up National Geographics and textbooks into a symbolically supercharged Harry Smith-style thesis on the human condition." -L.A. Record, 2019
This collage animation piece was mostly done in the analog stop motion style. Many of the characters are gender (and species) fluid. They tell a story of contemplation, understanding and transformation. This film also features hand-drawn animation and is the second collaboration with LA musician and record label owner Wylie Cable of Dome of Doom records.
Hasta La Victoria
Originally intended for a live visual experience for The Myrrors' album release, this work evolved into an album video in the aftermath of the show. The film is a blending of tapestries, rugs, and archival footage of the Middle East (among other countries) and nuclear tests from mid-century America. The Myrrors' desert-tinged drone music provides the uplifting backbone to this piece.
"You Found A Hidden Area"
Dubbed "collage-a-delica" by L.A. Record, this playful stop motion animation tells a story of self-acceptance. It features a likable cast of zoomorphic children who conjure self-transformative spells while bopping to Wylie Cable's heavy sampled beats in Alice-in-Wonderland-esque landscapes.
